Mixed Metaphors

The grief is heavy today. Who knows if it’s a wake after a ship has passed or just the normal cycle of a tide. There’s not enough middle fingers to protect me from the ghosts; clearly my taste buds think there’s more to be gained from gnashing this cud of memories some more. My soul is tired and my jaw hurts.

I have been trying to keep my head down, shake off the fog and focus on today, and tomorrow.

But the gravity.
