This was the bargain evangelicals and republicans made with the devil: bow to Trump as their God and savior and he will install anti-choice judges at the Supreme court to repeal Roe v Wade. All the justices knew the score, knew what their roles were. And the Faustian cost is well underway.

The “pro-life” movement is all illogical and ironic–of course banning abortions doesn’t stop abortions. Of course many in the “pro-life” movement are also pro-gun, anti-social services, and recently, anti-vax and anti-mask. It doesn’t matter.

And, I am reminded that a major reason why I disengaged from Christianity was the irony of an omnipotent, omniscient, all-loving God, who triumphed over death–except when it came to abortion (or being gay/queer, or not white, or poor, or you name it). Doesn’t God–“through him all things were made”–decide when and how life begins? Trump is a shiny new idol, but evangelicals took all their earthly desires and melted them into a golden calf a long time ago.

This won’t change anyone’s mind. It only feels good to pick at my old wounds.
